I have been listening to audiobooks on youtube for a while now before going to sleep. Last night I came across a video of Mel Robbins – I’m not sure where I have been, but unwittingly her message is the principal behind “It’s Fun To Be You.”
Her new book Stop Saying You’re Fine, is about why our lives are mundane and not much fun. She States that we convince ourselves that we’re fine because basically when we darn to think we are not fine and we hesitate, that 5 second hesitation signals our brains to go into protective mode and keeps us from taking action to improve our live…WHO KNEW!
We have all heard of fight or flight, but mostly in relationship to life threatening situations. I love aha moments but the concept that our brains are designed to keep us from growing from our discomfort, well – that’s on a whole new playing field of AHA!
It’s no wonder why so many people are searching for that magic wand to make our lives easier, better, and why we feel that life is hard, IT IS. I’d love to know how many hours I’ve wasted fighting with myself to get up and go do something – that I wanted to do – but couldn’t get myself to do it.
It’s Fun To Be You is serendipitously about making choices to have fun and now I can add these pearls of wisdom from Mel, to not hesitate when you have an idea or curiosity and just propel yourselves into action with Mel’s countdown of 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. If you wait longer than five seconds the moment will be lost forever.
You can learn more about Mel Robbins HERE and/or buy her book HERE.
My challenge for you today, should you choose to accept it, is to harness the power of Mel’s countdown from 5 – 1 when you have a thought or inspiration bolt into action, and like Nike says, ” Just do it”…because it’s fun to be you!
Cheers to Fun
